Bertha Brown was born on September 5, 1933 in Lane, South Carolina to
Lorena Davis & Sam Brown. Bertha was one of five children who received
her formal education while living in Lane.
Bertha was a mother of four children, but she continually looked for better
opportunities to provide for her family. Bertha migrated to Philadelphia,
working in a factory as a seamstress...she was a true seamstress at heart;
with an eye for sewing and making clothes.
Looking for even more out of life, Bertha migrated to Brooklyn, NY and
received numerous certifications to become a nurse's aide in Brooklyn NY's
School District. Bertha became a member of First Baptist Church of
Brooklyn New York where she delighted in feeding the homeless every
Tuesday.
In 2001 Bertha relocated back to Philadelphia, where she became a member
of the New Greater Straightway Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev.
David Hicks where she sang on the choir.
Bertha was known for her love of cooking. Her famous Cabbage and
Hoppin' Johns (red beans & rice) was a hit and a very frequent request.
Bertha was proceeded in death by her Parents; Lorena & Sam Brown,
Sisters; Sara & Rosalie Brown, three Sons; Christopher Brown, Willie Jene
Brown, Gary Brown and a Granddaughter, Sabrina Miller.
She leaves to cherish her memory; Daughter Joan Miller-Moore (Johnny
Moore). Grandchildren; Inga Miller, Tomika Miller, Angelique Monique
Moore. Granddaughter, Sara Brown. Great Grandson, Adonis Amari Gordon.
Sister; Mary E., Octavia (Leroy) Mouzon. Niece; Gwendolyn Brady. Nephew;
Nathanial Brown (Jacksonville FL), Anthony Pough
(Lancaster, PA). Great Nieces;

Great Nieces; Sabrina Brady, Briana Willis, Brittney
Hinton. Great Nephew, Gerald Brady Jr. Special Cousins; Jacqueline Miller
and Doris Cush. A host of additional nieces, nephews, cousins, family and
friends.
